Translate manga and webtoons on your iPhone
The free iPhone app Live Screen & Voice Translate (Miruyaku) gives you two ways to read. Page by page: open a screenshot in Translate from Photo and the translation is drawn where the text was, inside the speech bubbles.
For webtoons you scroll vertically: Live Translation in screen mode keeps translating newly visible lines in a floating window while you stay in your reading app. Vertical text gets its translation laid along the original column.
Free to use (banner ads; optional monthly subscription removes ads). iPhone with iOS 18 or later (some features need iOS 26 or later).

Steps
Page by page (Translate from Photo)
- Take a screenshot of the page you want to read.
- On the Miruyaku home screen, tap Translate from Photo and choose it. You can also send one image to Miruyaku with Share from Photos or another app.
- Switch between Translation (translation in place), Text (paragraph by paragraph) and Original at the bottom.
While scrolling (Live Translation, screen)
- Under "What Live Translation translates" on the home screen, choose Screen, then tap Live Translation, Start and Start Broadcast.
- Go back to your reading app, place the window over the text and scroll. Only newly visible lines are translated.
Good for / tips
- Translations match the original text's color and size, and the background covers only the text itself.
- In the Translation view you can zoom from 4x to 12x, and double-tap to zoom in.
- In the Text view, tap the numbered map to jump to a paragraph.
- If the language was guessed wrong, use Change Source Language and Retranslate.
- Assign the Translate Screenshot shortcut to the back double tap to translate the screen you're reading right away.
- On the large unfolded screen of iPhone Duo, the photo and the translated text sit side by side, and tapping a paragraph lights up the same spot on the photo.
What it can't do / requirements
- Translate from Photo handles one image at a time. Opening images from Files and pasting images are not supported.
- Indian scripts such as Hindi, and Greek, Hebrew, Persian and some other scripts can't be read.
- Translations are machine translations. When the wording matters, you can switch Translation Engine in Settings to an AI (Claude, OpenAI or Gemini) with your own API key (only then is the text sent to that service).
FAQ
Is there an app that translates manga or webtoons?
Live Screen & Voice Translate (Miruyaku) offers two ways. While scrolling, Live Translation in screen mode keeps the translation of on-screen text flowing in a floating window. Page by page, choose a screenshot and the translation is laid over the spot where the text was, such as inside speech bubbles. It also opens from the Share sheet. Standard translation runs on the device, and images are not sent to the developer.
Can it translate vertical text?
Yes. In photo and camera translation, vertical text gets its translation laid along the original column. Translations match the original text's color and size, and the background covers only the text.
Which iPhones does it work on?
Translate from Photo and Live Translation of the screen work on iPhones with iOS 18 or later.
