1. Approach
The App is designed to keep your data on your device wherever possible. This policy sets out what information the App handles, why, and what is shared with third parties.
2. Data stored on your device
The App stores the following only on your device. None of it is sent to the developer's servers.
- Videos you choose to caption — copied into the app so you can keep editing. Deleted when you delete the project
- Caption text, styles and settings
- Exported files — only what you save to your photo library or Files yourself
- A count and date used to decide when to ask for a rating
3. Data sent to third parties
The App uses the third-party services below, which may receive the information described.
Google AdMob (advertising)
The App uses Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may collect the following to serve ads and measure their performance.
- Device identifier (IDFV)
- Device information (model, OS version)
- Approximate location (inferred from IP address)
The App does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). Ads are always requested as non-personalized, so no behavioural targeting is performed across other apps or websites.
Ads are served by Google AdMob as non-personalized ads (NPA) only (a small banner at the bottom, a box while loading or exporting, and a full-screen ad shown at most once a day after an export finishes). The app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). The AdMob SDK may collect the vendor identifier (IDFV), ad delivery information and diagnostics; these are not linked to you and are not used for tracking. **Your videos and caption text are never used for advertising.**

Services you choose to connect
**Speech is transcribed with Apple's on-device speech recognition (Speech framework).** Audio is never sent to the developer or Apple. For a language used for the first time, the recognition data is downloaded from Apple once.
**Captions are translated with Apple's on-device translation (Translation framework).** For a language pair used for the first time, the translation data is downloaded from Apple once.
Sound captions (SoundAnalysis) and face-aware placement (Vision) also run on your device.
Videos are picked with the iOS photo picker. The app only receives the videos you choose. Saving uses add-only access to your photo library.
Some caption fonts are downloaded once from Apple when you choose them (using the iOS font delivery system). Your videos and caption text are never sent.
4. Personally identifiable information
The App does not collect your name, email address, phone number, bank details or card details. If you choose to include information in an email to support, it is used solely to reply to you.
5. Deleting your data
You can remove the data the App holds in the following ways.
- Delete the App from your iPhone — everything stored on the device goes with it
6. Children
The App is rated 4+ and older, and collects no age-related personal information. Children should use the App under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
7. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated without notice to reflect changes in law or in the App. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on the support page.
